redhead Bowie Knife,should I get it???

I want to get a well sized bowie knife and ive been looking at the redhead bowie knife at bass pro shop for 30.00$. The reason I chose that one is because of the price and the wood handle.I don't know the total size but I do know that Its blade is 8.66 inches long......so i want to know,is that a good sized bowie or not?

There are several versions of the Bowie knife and they can range in price from a Pakistan $3.00 E-Bay purchase to hundreds of dollars.

Blade length, width, style, and handle all vary to some degree.

Your Redhead Bowie is a pretty common design and the right size. The price is reasonable for a knife of unknown quality. I have a couple Bowie's, one is just a cheap prop I carry when I compete in Cowboy Action Shooting. The other is a quality piece that was a gift.

As a Hunting Knife it is a fair camp tool when you want to chop something and don't have your axe with you. It is a bit too large to be handy when gutting or skinning game.
